Various sponsors of the Pick n Pay Stay Alert Stay Alive initiative gathered at the Wanderers Sports Club on 3 November 2011 to show their support of the Anti Drinking and Driving (DAD) project.
Matrix was proud to attend the event that was fun-filled but also highly educational on the ill effects of drinking and driving. Activities during the day were aimed at families with model race cars and Xbox systems for the kids to seat belt convincers and booze buster goggle experiments for the adults. Guest speakers such as Wayne Minnaar, the Chief of Metro Police, addressed the crowd and offered real insights into the problems at hand. A team from Metro Police attended the day and made a stop at the Matrix stand to show their support for Matrix Vehicle Tracking.
“We are very proud to support this worthy cause. Everyday innocent people are killed or maimed by drunk drivers and we feel it is our responsibility as a vehicle tracking company to do what we can to alleviate this destructive behaviour in our society,” says Brendan Horan, General Manager Sales and Marketing MiX Telematics. “As we approach the festive season, we always see an increase in the cases of drunk driving. It is a great pity that this special time of year is marred by the effects of drunk driving. It is up to us all to make a difference this festive season and stop drinking and driving on our roads.”
